According to The Athletic’s Tori McElhaney, Gurley’s tenure with the Falcons is coming to a close. She says that she did not expect the Falcons to re-sign the impending free agent running back, which is not surprising after a disappointing 2020 season. He managed to stay relatively healthy — he played in 15 of their 16 games — but he struggled to a disappointing 3.5 yards per carry. He was relegated to a backup role late in the season, and he finished the season as the No. 113 running back according to Pro Football Focus.
McElhaney added that the Falcons might look to select a running back in the upcoming draft.
