Williams last played in Super Bowl LIV, where he finished with 104 rushing yards, 29 receiving yards, and two touchdowns. He opted out of the 2020 season due to COVID-19 concerns, and his return would give the Chiefs another option in the backfield. They used a first-round draft pick last season on Clyde Edwards-Helaire, and Darrel Williams has fared well in limited playing time this season. Williams returning would likely spell the end of Le’Veon Bell’s time in Kansas City.
Laurent Duvernay-Tardif is also expected to opt-in for next season, and he started 14 games at guard for the Chiefs in 2019.
