The Cubs have been busy shoring up their bullpen this morning. MLB Network’s John Heyman reports that they’ve agreed to deals with both Workman and Strop. Workman’s deal is reportedly for one year and $1M with an additional $2M in possible incentives, while the terms of the Strop deal are not yet known.
Workman spent last year with the Red Sox and Phillies, and he struggled mightily. He pitched to a 5.95 ERA and 5.48 FIP, both of which were the worst marks of his career. However, he pitched to a 1.88 ERA and 13.06 K/9 with the Red Sox in 2019 over a much larger sample size.
