Referees Bungle the Ball, Hose Colorado Out of Final Play

It turns out the most critical fumble on college football’s opening night didn’t come from a player.

Trailing, 28-20, Colorado drove down to Hawaii’s eight-yard-line with 14 seconds left. The Buffaloes tried scrambling to the line of scrimmage to get one more play, but the line judge, umpire and center judge bungled the exchange of the football and the game ended before Colorado could call a play.

The line judge set the ball down on the sideline for some reason, wasting precious seconds before finally tossing it to the umpire.
