The Boston Red Sox are giving some of their starters a day off on Sunday against the Philadelphia Phillies. Most notably, J.D. Martinez and Xander Bogaerts will be riding the pine as the Red Sox try to complete the three-game sweep of the Phillies.
Martinez has appeared in the outfield in the first two games of the series, as the Senior Circuit rules don’t allow for a designated hitter, with Bogaerts appearing in his usual shortstop position. Marwin Gonzalez will fill in for Bogaerts on Sunday, while the outfield will be manned by Danny Santana (center), Hunter Renfroe (right), and Franchy Cordero (left).
