Red Sox beat writer Pete Abraham reports that starter Eduardo Rodriguez has been given the green light for his first start this season against the Baltimore Orioles on Thursday. Rodriguez was originally slated to start Opening Day, but he experienced fatigue in his throwing arm towards the end of spring training.
The Red Sox are not commenting at this time as to whether Rodriguez will be on a pitch count. Thursday will be his first start since the 2019 season as the left-hander chose to opt-out last year.
Boston picked up their first win on the season on Monday as they erupted for 11 runs against the Rays after scoring only five runs in their previous three games.
