It may surprise you that Star Wars Day didn’t become a thing until 2011 — and that it started in Canada. Yep, at the Toronto Underground Cinema, which featured the original film trilogy, trivia contests plus a bunch of other Star Wars-related activities. It was created simply because they wanted to use the catch phrase “May The Fourth Be With You.”
But baseball has always been enamored with Star Wars, and were staging random Star Wars days even before that. The minor leagues were the first to embrace it, but the majors have caught on in a big way — a kind of melding of two great nerd cultures.
