Prognosis Negative: Chief Wahoo Given One Year To Live By Commissioner Rob Manfred

Chief Wahoo, the Cleveland Indians’ controversial, ever-grinning logo, had a doctor’s appointment this morning, and the test results were not good. The Chief was given just one year to live — 16 months, tops — and was told to get his affairs in order.

So says MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred, who said through a spokesman in a statement today to the New York Times that he wants the Indians to “transition away” from the Chief.

“We have specific steps in an identified process and are making progress,” MLB said of the transition.
