Deesha Thosar of the NY Daily News reports New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso is out of the Mets lineup Thursday for a scheduled rest day.

Alonso recently returned to action after spending two weeks on the injured list because of a hand injury. This season, appearing in 40 games, he is slashing .250/.344/.450., with seven home runs. In the 2020 season, he hit .231 with a .326 OBP with 16 home runs.
Dominic Smith will replace Alonso at first base, batting cleanup. Priced at $2,800 on FanDuel, Smith has played two games at first base, typically seeing playing time as a left fielder.
