Before meeting in Norman last season, Tennessee and Oklahoma had met only once post-World War II in the 1968 Orange Bowl
Down 19-0 at halftime, the Vols worked their way back into the game with a 14-point third quarter. Up 26-24 with 1:54 remaining, Oklahoma failed to convert a fourth-down conversion from their own 43-yard-line, setting the stage for a thrilling Tennessee victory.
But with seven seconds left Vols kicker Karl Kremser missed a 43-yard attempt wide right, securing the two-point victory for Oklahoma.
The Vols will look to exact revenge on last year’s 34-10 defeat when they welcome Oklahoma to Knoxville this Saturday.
