After at first banning its oval-headed mascot from participating in the Columbus Pride Parade and Festival, Ohio State has reversed itself and will allow Brutus Buckeye to attend the second-largest LGBT event in the nation, the university just announced.
The OSU spirit committee on Wednesday had originally nixed the attendance by Brutus, citing safety concerns following the mass shooting at at a gay nightclub in Orlando on Sunday. But after “additional consultation”, which probably means a shitstorm of campus and social media criticism for caving to terrorists, OSU reversed its decision and will let Brutus attend.
Rufus Wildcat, the mascot for neighboring Ohio University, will also be at the event (see below).
