Mets pitcher Noah Syndergaard is living in the worst version of Groundhog Day, one where his friend keeps going to Baltimore.
Syndergaard and Logan Verrett came through the Mets’ minor league system together, from Double A in Binghamton to Triple A in Las Vegas before eventually landing in Queens. Before the 2015 season, the Orioles picked up Verrett in the Rule 5 draft and Syndergaard was bummed.
The Orioles ended up waiving Verrett that April and he was snatched up by the Rangers, who dumped him a month later. As per the rules of the Rule 5 draft, Verrett was shipped back to Las Vegas and reunited with Syndergaard.
