NHL Re-Alignment Plans Far From Resolved

Well, it looks like the Covid-19 pandemic hasn’t finished wreaking havoc on the NHL landscape. After what was thought to be a concrete plan to re-align the NHL’s divisions to prevent cross-border travel, reports are now surfacing that an all Canadian Division may no longer be feasible.

Frank Seravalli reported that all seven Canadian NHL teams were notified that they may be required to relocate south of the border to play the upcoming season.

The problem impacting Canadian teams is that each Provincial health authority has final say on what is allowable. That means that if the Provinces have restrictions in place that prevent sport activities and can’t come to some sort of agreement to allow these teams to travel between Provinces and play each other, games can’t be played in Canada.
