Ben Rortvedt suffers an oblique strain for the New York Yankees, Brendan Kuty of The Newark Star-Ledger reports.
Rortvedt suffered the injury Saturday and could miss Opening Day as a result. Rortvedt was just acquired by the Yankees along with Josh Donaldson and Isiah Kiner- Falefa earlier this week from the Minnesota Twins in return for Gio Urshela and Gary Sanchez. Rortvedt is expected to platoon at catcher along with Kyle Higashioka. This duo should give the Yankees above-average defense at catcher but aren’t expected to provide much offense.
The left-handed-hitting Rortvedt could see the lion’s share of the starts once he is healthy.
