I know he’s only nine games into his tenure as Nebraska’s head coach, but it’s already painfully clear than Mike Riley is the new Bill Callahan.
For a brief refresher, Callahan was brought in as an “outsider” to the Nebraska program to modernize it and return it to national prominence after Frank Solich struggled to continue Nebraska’s “powerhouse” status it had gained under Tom Osborne.
So Solich was canned in 2003 despite appearing in the national championship game under two years before and a 75% winning percentage.
