Remember when the NCAA fined Louisville players for a $7 laser tag outing? Yeah, well this might top that.
AL.com’s Brandon Marcello wrote a comprehensive feature on Auburn’s “Cigar Game,” (and its fallout) a 1999 victory over LSU that concluded with Auburn players smoking cigars in celebration on the Tiger Stadium field.
Apparently the NCAA was not having it and “fired off a nasty letter to Auburn and threatened to declare players ineligible if they did not fork over $1 a piece for receiving improper benefits (one cigar).
