The Washington Nationals will be without a pair of productive bats in the starting lineup as they conclude their four-game series with the Atlanta Braves on Thursday afternoon.
Josh Bell has struggled against lefties this year, so he’ll take a seat against Braves’ southpaw starter Tucker Davidson. While Bell is third on the team with seven home runs and 22 RBI, his numbers have a big drop-off against left-handed pitching. The 28-year-old is hitting .121/.268/.242 with just one round-tripper in 33 at-bats against left-handers this year.
Ryan Zimmerman will play first base and bat cleanup in Bell’s place.
