The slew of absurd finishes in college football this season has not been limited to the FBS. At least it wasn’t this Saturday. Enter Montana-Idaho State.
An anonymous FCS matchup that otherwise would’ve gotten lost in the fray did not, thanks to the fashion in which Montana won. Idaho State lined up for a game-winning 34-yard field goal attempt with the score knotted at 27 in overtime, but the snap sailed over the holder’s head. Idaho State’s holder and kicker each looked like they had a chance to fall on the ball, but Montana’s JR Nelson swooped in and flipped the ball up to teammate Eric Johnson, who took it back 40 yards for the game-winning score.
