Memphis was planning on honoring former head coach John Calipari in December. For about 24 hours.
University of Memphis President David Rudd announced on Wednesday that the school would honor Calipari in December to celebrate his induction into the College Basketball Hall of Fame. Fans weren’t exactly on board with the idea, forcing the school to scrap the plan (and an uber-apologetic letter from Rudd) a day later.

Calipari’s departure after nine years with the Tigers — including a (vacated) Final Four run with Derrick Rose — wasn’t exactly amicable.
