Michael Russo confirmed that the Minnesota Wild have placed Matt Dumba on the IR with a lower-body injury and shifted Mats Zuccarello to the LTIR with an arm injury.
Dumba has been the Wild’s best defenseman this year. He ranks first in Corsi percentage, second in scoring chance percentage, first in high-danger percentage, and fourth in ice-time. Dumba plays across all strengths and gets 61.5% of his starts in the offensive zone. Carson Soucy should move into the top four, joining Jonas Brodin, Jared Spurgeon, and Ryan Suter, helping boost his negative metrics. Dumba will be out at least seven days now that he’s on the IR.
