So you may recall the story we posted on Monday, in which a Spanish third-tier soccer team, Eldense, lost so badly that the board of directors cancelled the remainder of the season and called the police.
The 12-0 thumping at the hands of Barcelona B had many on the losing side in tears afterward — but not all of them. It didn’t take Spanish authorities long to determine that the match was likely fixed, mainly because one of the Eldense players told the press “It was fixed.” And today both the Eldense manager and assistant manager were arrested, and four players were hauled in for questioning.
