Sad news from North Carolina State University. A 58-year-old man died of a heart attack during the Krispy Kreme Challenge, a 5-mile run for charity in which participants consume donuts as part of the competition. Donuts and marathons have never co-existed well, and now we have proof.
Never in the history of human athletic competition has a sadder, more disappointing paragraph ever been written. WRAL-Raleigh:
Participants run two-and-a-half miles to a Krispy Kreme shop. Once there, they consume a dozen doughnuts and then run the same distance back to the race’s starting point.
Your move, Rio Olympics.
