I covered several Giants games for a local newspaper during Barry Bonds’ playing heyday, and one of the images I remember best is his big recliner in the players’ lounge. While his teammates were in the locker room talking with the press following games, Bonds would be in the back, reclining in his big chair, refusing to talk with anyone.
But he was also a big jerk in so many other ways — it was made clear from the outset that this was Barry’s world, and we just lived in it. A lot of us figured that part of his personality disorder was due to the steroids — it was the cream and/or the clear talking on any given day.
