Arkansas summoned the power of the rally fire against Miami (FL) on Monday and it momentarily worked — the Hogs overcame a 2-0 and 3-2 deficits to knot the game at three heading into the ninth.
But they could not overcome the power of Miami’s rally monkey, a tried and true friend to baseball players everywhere since the Anaheim Angels rode theirs to the 2002 World Series victory.
In the bottom of the ninth cameras caught a ‘Canes catcher in the dugout with a stuffed monkey on his back. Minutes later sophomore Jacob Heyward knocked the game-winning RBI single, eliminating Arkansas and keeping Miami’s season alive.
