For all of the problems I have with ESPN’s coverage of the Little League World Series — including the fact that ESPN covers the Little League World Series — even I have to admit that every now and then a truly heartwarming moment slips through.
That came this past weekend, during Bend, Oregon’s game against Italy in the consolation round. After pitching his team to a 6-0 lead, Bend’s Isaiah “Bugsy” Jensen was approaching his pitch count limit, and so his dad, assistant coach Joel Jensen, went to the mound to tell him that the next batter would be his last.
