We have our first crazy buzzer-beater finish of the 2015-16 college hoops season, courtesy of LIU Brooklyn.
The Blackbirds were tied with Loyola-Maryland at 68 with five seconds left when the latter inbounded the ball under the opposing basket. Loyola forward Jarred Jones’ layup attempt was blocked by Jerome Frink and scooped up by Martin Hermannsson, at which point the game appeared it would go to overtime.
Hermannsson almost threw up a prayer (remember, just five seconds remained at the start of this sequence) but instead launched it up the court to Joel Hernandez, who caught it in mid-air and shot it from the right elbow before hitting the ground, draining the game-winning 3-pointer.
