Lions’ LB DeAndre Levy Calls Joe Paterno ‘A Dirtbag’, Is Glad He Broke His Leg

DeAndre Levy isn’t your typical NFL player. He travels the world doing things like skydiving, exploring the Amazon rain forest and sledding down the face of an active volcano. He also speaks his mind.

The Detroit Lions linebacker played college football at Wisconsin, where during a game with Penn State in 2006 he accidentally broke Joe Paterno’s leg. Levy was a sophomore.

He recounted the moment in an interview with Men’s Journal, where we got this sublime quote:

He was most famous for a 2006 play against Penn State, a sideline tackle that accidentally drove him into coach Joe Paterno, breaking JoePa’s left leg.
