RIO DE JANEIRO — The 2016 Summer Olympics don’t officially open until Friday, but athletes from around the world are already arriving and one of the historic city’s sights is already a huge draw: the lone working toilet in the Olympic Village.
“In fairness, there are multiple toilets in the Village,” said American swimmer Michael Phelps. “But only one of them flushes. Flushes water. There was another toilet that flushed, but we quickly realized it wasn’t hooked up correctly and it was using urine to flush.”
With less than 15-percent of the 11,000 Olympic athletes and 6,000 coaches checked-in to the Village as of this morning, there is currently a 5 1/5-hour line to use the toilet.
