We’ve all heard the phrase that the NBA is a player’s league. There have always been rumors about certain players getting coaches fired, and perhaps we can now add Hawks guard Trae Young to that list after Atlanta fired head coach Lloyd Pierce on Monday.
Dan Feldman of NBC Sports reported last year of a possible rift between Young and the former head coach. In the piece, he also opined that if push came to shove, the Hawks were likely to side with the player, Young, instead of the head coach.
It’s been just one day after Pierce’s firing, and The Athletic wasted little time in releasing a report that Pierce had already lost support from players in the locker room.
