Kyrie Irving shocked the sports world when he asked the Cavaliers to trade him in July. After all, it seemed Irving had the perfect situation: His team had reached three consecutive finals, he played alongside the best player in the league who is known for his unselfishness, and Irving did not have to defer to LeBron during crunch time. James would often defer to Irving when the Cavs needed a bucket, most famously when Irving hit the game-winning three-pointer in the 2016 NBA finals.
Despite what looked ideal on paper, Irving yearned to be the man on his own team, and his wish was granted when the Cavs traded him to the Celtics for a package centered around Isaiah Thomas.
