The Mariners released a statement on Tuesday that Mather has resigned from his position as team president and CEO. The Mariners were facing heat after reports of some of his disparaging comments made to a Rotary Club earlier this month came to light. Mather went as far as belittling two of his foreign players for their willingness to learn English, admitted to manipulating service time, and called Kyle Seager — one of the franchise’s best players from the past decade — overpaid.
This comes after Mather was promoted despite two separate sexual harassment incidents that resulted in payouts.
