It’s been a weird and strenuous year, even for the lot of us here at SportsGrid who get paid to write about the decidedly unimportant world of sports. Sure, from time to time we are tasked with covering serious topics that extend beyond the world of game days and social media beefs; but for the most part, our days spent scouring the internet are anything but stressful.
Even still, 2016 has taken its toll on us. Dark corners of the internet that we can usually ignore – like the comment sections on Huffington Post articles or replies to CNN’s Twitter account – became mainstream, public conversation topics during this election year.
