Robert Murray reports catcher Jonathan Lucroy has agreed to a minor-league deal with the Washington Nationals.
The 10-year veteran is best known for his six seasons behind the plate as a Milwaukee Brewers, appearing in 805 games. As a Brewer, he hit .284 with 79 home runs.
Lucroy last played as a member of the Boston Red Sox, appearing in one game with the team.
He was hopeful to land a roster spot with the Chicago White Sox during Spring Training but asked to be released from a minor-league contract.
It is expected that Lucroy will slot into the lineup behind starting catcher Yan Gomes.
