Joe Maddon Put His Dad’s Hat In His Back Pocket Before The 10th Inning

As if there weren’t enough reasons to get emotional after the Chicago Cubs first World Series victory since 1908, Joe Maddon’s post game interview revealed how he put his father’s hat in his back pocket at the start of extra innings.

The Cubs proceeded to score two runs on three hits, a stolen base and an intentional walk. The rest is history.

“Omens, I don’t know. I did see my dad’s hat in my bag today. I carry my dad’s hat with me,” Maddon said before Game 6.

“He passed away in 2002, we won the World Series, and I’ve had his old Angel hat in my bag since then.
