Ji-Man Choi Will Undergo Knee Surgery, Likely Out Until May

The Tampa Bay Rays will likely be without their lefty first baseman for at least a month. Ji-Man Choi will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his right knee and is expected to be out until at least May. Choi has been dealing with an issue in the knee since the start of spring training and was recently shut down after trying to up the intensity in his workouts again. The 29-year-old was expected to see most of the at-bats this season at first base in Tampa Bay, but the Rays will now have to go with Yoshi Tsutsugo, Yandy Diaz, and Mike Brosseau in a platoon until Choi can return.
