deGrom has been suffering from a tight right side recently. It caused him to be scratched from his start on Tuesday, and he was pulled after just five innings Sunday vs. the Diamondbacks. The MRI ultimately revealed no structural damage, but the team will still exercise caution and place him on the 10-day IL.
The Mets have not yet announced who will take his spot on the active roster, but their pitching depth is already pretty tapped. Carlos Carrasco and Noah Syndergaard remain on the IL, so guys like David Peterson and Joey Lucchesi are already in the rotation.
