This past week, the Oakland Athletics were in New York to face the New York Yankees. The A’s came into the series a game under .500 and the Yankees were going to miss seeing Sonny Gray this time around. Not all that much is expected from the A’s this year and despite being just one game back in the AL West right now, they are seen as overachievers. The team is without a true superstar and relatively nondescript. Don’t go and tell that to the players on the team though.
Sometime during the series, word arrived inside the A’s clubhouse, that Yankees lead announcer Michael Kay referred to the A’s as a collection of minor leaguers.
