Hump Day With Cam: The More Things Change…The More They Stay The Same

The sky is falling: The Golden State Warriors and The Cleveland Cavaliers are playing in their third consecutive NBA Finals against each other which has never happened in the NBA; not even in the game’s infancy when there were far fewer teams.

People are worried that this is the beginning of the end for the NBA because there is no parity, and the games are a foregone conclusion. But is the hypothesis accurate? In delving deeper into the data, as I like to do, I would argue that there is as much parity today as there’s ever been in this league, and far more parity today than there was in the vaunted glory days of the 80s when Magic Johnson and Larry Bird supposedly saved the NBA.
