First, let’s look back at the AT&T Byron Nelson classic, where Sergio Garcia came away with the win after tracking down Brooks Koepka, and eventually beating him in a playoff. Garcia took advantage of a couple bogeys by Koepka on the back nine in the final round, and then Koepka dropped a tee shot into the water on the first playoff hole to see his fate.
Garcia has now won nine tournaments on the PGA Tour, tying him with fellow Spanish-born golfer Seve Ballesteros, for the most wins by a player born in Spain. Garcia had also won that tournament 12 years ago, and was actually able to celebrate with Byron Nelson himself.
