Ausmus was ejected from Monday’s game with the Twins for arguing balls and strikes with plate umpire Doug Eddings, but many believe is histrionics were to light a fire under his moribund team. Detroit had lost 11 of 12 games fore Sunday’s 6-5 victory over the Orioles, and the Tigers scored eight in the first on Monday vs. the Twins, hoping to claims their first back-to-back wins since April.
But Detroit blew its eight-run lead and needed single runs in the seventh and eigth — after Ausmus was gone — to win it, 10-8.
The Tigers won last night.
