Last week the Pro Football Hall of Fame announced their list of 94 candidates for induction into their Class of 2017. Included on that list was confessed, convicted and imprisoned serial rapist Darren Sharper.
Sharper, a five-time Pro Bowl safety, pleaded guilty to drugging and raping up to 16 women in four states. Last month he was sentenced to 18 years in prison. The fact that the NFL would allow the nomination of a convicted serial rapist for induction into the Hall of Fame was followed by justified public outrage. But as D’Arcy Main of ESPNW pointed out, the HOF doesn’t really give a shit about the content of one’s character.
