ESPN gets an insane amount of shit for what they cover. Recently, they’ve ventured into covering eSports and WWE in a serious manner. They realized the strong followings that both of these genre’s have and felt that it was necessary to pour resources into properly covering them. Sure they had to deal with the outcries of those that scream “that’s not a sport!” but that obviously doesn’t matter anymore. The debate about poker being a sport is over a decade old. ESPN also has been by celebrities to promote whatever constantly. We are long past looking at ESPN as a place that only covers sports.
