The Flames may be without their big offseason free-agent goalie signing for a little bit. Head coach Geoff Ward said his goaltender is day-to-day, dealing with an upper-body injury. Markstrom was scratched from his scheduled start against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Monday night, where David Rittich ended up getting the Flames a 3-0 shutout. The former Canuck was pulled in the third period after allowing five goals to his former Vancouver team on Wednesday. Rittich got the next start on Friday against the Oilers before Markstrom was again pulled in Saturday’s rematch with Edmonton. The 31-year-old got the hook after giving up five goals on 15 shots through a period and a half and clearly hasn’t looked right in his past few games.
