For decades, the Fall TV season was supposed to be the best point in time for great new TV shows. The networks aligned everything with families coming back from summer vacations, kids going back to school, and they created the template of a first-half of the season before Christmas, with a second-half of a 23-episode season starting again in January.
Then Cable TV and streaming channels came around, and they changed everything! Now, new TV shows seem to pop up every other week, and they only run for 10-13 episodes per season!
But network TV still bases most of its ad sales on the Fall TV run of new shows, and we’re happy about that!
