For Americans, hearing about soccer riots abroad is our sports version of Game of Thrones. There are so many battles going on, and we really don’t always know who to root for. We just kinda wish everyone would just get along. (Now that the evil child king is dead – GoT, not in real life.)
Wednesday night, Olympiacos and PAOK, two rival Greek teams, met in a semifinal match in the Greek Cup.
The gist of this soccer riot is that one team (PAOK, in this case) didn’t get a call on a clear penalty against their midfielder, after an obvious takedown from the Olympiacos goalkeeper.
