Syracuse announced on Tuesday that it would reinstate the No. 44 — worn by such Orange legends as Jim Brown, Ernie Davis and Floyd Little — which was retired in 2005 and last worn by Rob Konrad.
Many in the ‘Cuse universe have celebrated the decision, giving the chance for future players to don the hallowed number and carry out the tradition of No. 44. But not everyone is pleased, namely Donovan McNabb.
The former Orange QB, whose No. 5 is retired by the school, aired his thoughts on Twitter:
It bothers me to see the decision being made by my alma mater to u retire the legendary 44.
