The Tampa Bay Lightning stole Game 1 of their second-round matchup from the Carolina Hurricanes, and they did so without the services of David Savard. Savard was ruled out with an upper-body injury, and head coach Jon Cooper provided an update in his post-game presser, noting that Savard was day-to-day.

Luke Schenn replaced Savard on Sunday, but Schenn didn’t absorb Savard’s typical workload. Savard plays an average of 15:40 this postseason, and Schenn was only on the ice for 8:17 in the Lightning’s 2-1 victory. Victor Hedman and Ryan McDonagh took on increased roles, playing 27:36 and 25:13, respectively.
