Does anybody remember the days when memes used to actually be fun? They used to be trivial and silly and easily shareable with our friends and family to garner a laugh or to chuckle about an inside joke. Sadly, as of 2016, those days are no more.
Election season has officially ruined the meme. It has taken the meme and ripped it to shreds and then lit those shreds on fire and sent them out to sea like at a Norse funeral. Where we once had the beloved musings of sarcastic Willy Wonka and the wacky adventures of the Most Interesting Man in the World, we now have the pathetic and misplaced groaning of far-right Kermit the Frog; no doubt sipping tea made of the reprinted words of the 2nd amendment seeped in the tears of immigrants.
