Gordon Wittenmyer of NBC Sports Chicago reports that Kohl Stewart will make his third start of the season on Friday against the Cardinals. In 8 2/3 innings, he has a 1-1 record with a 3.12 ERA and 1.50 WHIP. Stewart last pitched on Saturday in a 4-3 loss against the Giants. His start today will allow the Cubs to push their regular starters back one day with additional rest.
Kohl Stewart joins the rotation for the weekend as expected, but he’ll start today instead of Saturday as Cubs use yesterday’s off day to get the rest of the starters an extra day.
