Garry Shandling’s untimely death has profoundly impacted the comedians who were inspired by both his stand-up and two very successful TV shows (“It’s Garry Shandling’s Show” and “The Larry Sanders Show”), not only because this guy was such a supreme talent for such a long time, but because he apparently was abnormally nice. Show business isn’t exactly known for being a very welcoming place, so he was particularly loved among his peers and those who followed in his footsteps.
One of those people was Conan O’Brien, who relayed a story Thursday night involving Shandling and a trip to Hawaii immediately after losing “The Tonight Show” because Jay Leno suddenly wanted it back.
